Number one hobby in the U.S.

Updated: Sep 20, 2019

You guessed it didn't you? Probably the picture gave it away.

Yes, it is gardening. I have to admit I was a little surprised at first and then I thought about it and it makes perfect sense. Digging in the dirt, and pulling weeds relaxes some people.

Some people get into gardening because they want to grow their own food that's free of chemicals. Many people want to add landscaping around their homes to make it look better.

People want to recreate childhood memories. Maybe the memory of a great aunt's purple Iris, which seemed so tall and colorful to a 5-year-old. Or maybe the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass on a summer evening while family and neighbors sat on the front porch and the kids ran around the yard catching lightning bugs.

Did any of these influence you to start gardening?

If gardening is the number one hobby, then this is a great gift for a lot of people!

Here's a little bit about the company behind the garden in a bag.

Potting Shed Creations |  est. in 1998 Potting Shed Creations started as weekend gardeners, saving seed in envelopes and plastic baggies. Being designers by day, they decided to try their hand at creating a kit that could store seed in a case that not only functioned well but looked good too. And they did. Twenty years later they are still producing products that add value to everyday living.

the mission. Potting Shed is a design company inspired by reclaimed objects, a love of food, science, and modern culture, with a simple focus — to design and build, by hand, genuine products for everyday living.

philosophy. people build better products than machines.

five fun facts. - they have one office dog for every four people. - the company is located in a renovated 1970s elementary school in northern Idaho. - the most complicated pieces of machinery are a foot-pedal grommeter and a glue gun - the upcycled bottle gardens have saved 100,000 (and counting) from landfills - it is not uncommon to see moose peering into the production windows

We carry these fine products and more by Potting Shed Creations
