I borrowed the phrase "Everything is Figureoutable" from Marie Forleo because I think it's a fitting anthem for World Mental Health Day. When asked how she created her socially conscious digital empire her reply was "as long as I can remember, I’ve been insatiably curious about human potential. I wanted to know, what exactly is it that makes people genuinely happy, successful and creatively fulfilled? Why do some people struggle while others find a way to thrive, often despite the most challenging circumstances?" This curiosity lead her to a career where she touches millions of lives in a positive and encouraging way on a daily basis through her online presence. She is also the author of the New York Times #1 bestseller Everything is Figureoutable which is described as a "philosophy of relentless optimism."
This year, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) has decided to make “suicide prevention” the main theme of World Mental Health Day. Suicidal behavior has increased gradually in all parts of the world and it has reached alarming statistical levels. By making suicide prevention the theme of World Mental Health Day the hope is to attract attention to the problem, get people to talk about a subject that tends to be taboo and about which many hold mistaken and prejudiced ideas, in the hope it will help the community to learn about the risk factors so that they can identify and address them.
If more people talk about mental health issues and suicide prevention, it will become a figureoutable problem. Awareness and optimism will be the key.
Do something nice for someone today. Do something nice for yourself today,
A simple act of kindness can change everything.
