CBD- The new cool kid

OH Lordy! The CBD craze is ON! It is Everywhere! There are internet storefronts, community markets, coffee shops, health clubs, chiropractic offices, boutiques, bookstores and gas stations that sell various hemp-derived CBD oil products!

As much as I hate the trendiness of this product, I do believe that it works.

So what is CBD? Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the flower of cannabis, a plant with a history as medicine going back thousands of years. Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world as a safe, non-addictive substance. The fact that CBD works so well therapeutically as well as being non-intoxicating makes it an appealing treatment option. This is not the same as the most well-known cannabinoid in marijuana - THC. (Ya know, that stuff none of us ever smoked...or inhaled...or had relations with.) THC and CBD work with different receptors affecting different parts of the body. (Hold on, it's going to get scientific for a minute.)

THC binds to the CB1 receptors in your brain, it affects memory, coordination, and concentration. In other words - you get stoned. CBD affects the TRPV1 receptors in your body, not your brain, which is responsible for regulating pain, inflammation and body temperature. CBD helps to calm down the stress signals in your body. CBD and THC have similar chemical makeup but they have opposite effects. CBD actually inhibits THC.

There is a lot of science behind the reasons it works but the bottom line is that your body is built to accept it. We all have cannabinoid receptors as part of our endocannabinoid system so our body knows just what to do with it, it's not a foreign substance, it goes right to work and is incredibly beneficial.

I knew I wanted a CBD bath bomb in my product line. It took a while to find one that I was comfortable with. As I said, there's a lot of stuff out there...

I knew I wanted a bath bomb specifically because it's the most relaxing way to get the relief you need. (Oil droppers tinctures and gummies are not my thing and I don't want to sell them.)

I knew I wanted it made in the states.

I knew I wouldn't buy any product that I wouldn't use myself or give to my family.

Enter, Life Elements - Martha and Curt Van Inwegen started the California based company over a decade ago. It started as a bee-based skincare line that grew from the maker's own backyard hive and has now added antioxidant-rich, inflammation-fighting CBD into the mix. Martha saw the benefits first hand with her daughter and was inspired to incorporate it into their products.

The result is a full spectrum of body care goods that aims to ease what ails you from head to toe. Their products are made of ethically and sustainably sourced ingredients (such as honey and organically grown hemp). They believe in making a difference as real as their products, so they put everything to the test (with humans—not animals) before releasing anything to customers.

Hopefully, this has provided you with a better understanding of CBD. If you or someone you know could benefit from a luxurious CBD bath, check us out here.
